Alex Munro, Q Acoustics' Brand Director on the Concept 40's:
"Make no mistake, the new Concept 40 is special. It delivers a sonic performance which until now, has only been enjoyed by those privileged enthusiasts who could afford wonderful, but very expensive, 'high end' loudspeakers." "The introduction of the Concept 40 means music lovers can, for the first time, enjoy that true 'high end' experience, but at an affordable price." Asked how Q Acoustics had achieved this leap forward in performance? Alex Munro replied: "Q Acoustics' philosophy is to lead, not follow, and innovation is the key to our success. So instead of following what other companies do, our design engineers decided to attack head on the big fundamental problem in speaker design, which is cabinet resonance." "Cabinet resonance occurs at some level in all speakers and obliterates much of the low level (quiet) bits of information. These 'quiet bits' are part of every musical performance and go together to recreate a realistic soundstage and the 'being there' experience enjoyed by the owners of high end systems."
"Our Concept Series loudspeakers, incorporate state-of-the-art, ultra low resonance, 'GelcoreTM Construction' cabinets. These allow the loudspeaker's drive units to simply play the music, unconstrained by cabinet interference."
"The sonic result, for a loudspeaker at its price, is nothing short of sensational."
In common with the Concept 20 its award-winning ‘little brother’, the new Concept 40’s unparalleled soundstage, dynamics and sheer musicality is achieved by incorporating outstanding, bespoke drive units into a lacquered, State-of-the-Art, ‘GelcoreTM Construction’, ultra-low resonance cabinet, which ultimately allows them to perform at its very best. The drive units have powerful oversized magnets attached to them to lower the cabinet resonance and the tripod stand allows these floorstanding loudspeakers to have perfect rigidity and contact with the floor to enhance its performance.
The aluminium facia plate not only enhances the aesthetics of them, but also helps to reduce cabinet resonance as it features a butyl clamp. With a sensitivity of 90dB, and a speaker imprudence that never get s lower than 4 ohms, it means that the Concept 40 is easy to drive with any good quality amplifier. With a striking floorstanding design which is available in either high gloss black, or high gloss white, these loudspeakers really do look as good as they sound.
